Day 12 of 280, first trimester
This is day 12 of your menstrual cycle
As your hormone levels rise around this point in your cycle, your libido might rise too.
268 days until your due date
In a 28-day cycle, estrogen peaks today. This rise in estrogen from the follicles triggers the release of LH, which surges about 24 hours before ovulation, and FSH starts rising later this week. Progesterone stays low because it isn't needed until the uterus lining needs to thicken. High progesterone now would make the cervix hostile to sperm, stopping them reaching the uterus and fallopian tubes.
Women also produce testosterone, which peaks around ovulation. It drives libido in both sexes, so you and your partner may both feel more in the mood now.

Stress and conception
Stress can affect your ability to conceive.
It may reduce the ovary's response to the mid-cycle hormone surge. Stress is also linked to fertility treatments failing, though the exact reason isn't known.
Ask a Doctor
Is it safe to try again straight after a miscarriage?
There's no exact rule. As a general guide, wait until you've had one period, which helps date the pregnancy if you conceive quickly. Your doctor may advise otherwise, especially if the miscarriage was linked to an infection, and if you're waiting for tests, have those first.
You and your partner may need time to grieve, so don't rush. Most women who have one miscarriage go on to have a baby.

Grieving together
Talk through your grief together before trying again. A miscarriage can be extremely hard and may put a strain on your relationship.
